"American Teen" Preview & Trailer
American Teen won some major kudos at Sundance this year, and I can’t wait to see it. Saw the trailer in front of the Shine a Light DVD (will post review tomorrow) I watched tonight, and it looks awesome.
It’s a documentary from filmmaker Nanette Burstein that follows the lives of five teenagers - a jock, a popular girl, a heartthrob, an artsy girl and a geek in a small Indiana town during their senior year of high school. Sounds like a modern-day Breakfast Club
Burstein filmed daily for ten months, capturing the pressure of kids growing up and trying to figure out their place in the world. Here are the Facebook pages for the kids featured in the film: Megan Krizmanich, Colin Clemens, Hannah Bailey, Mitch Reinholt, and Jake Tusing.
American Teen opens in limited release this Friday, July 25, 2008. It’s rated PG-13 for some strong language, sexual material, some drinking and brief smoking — all involving teens. Official Facebook Site.

I just watched American Teen over the weekend and I was really impressed! It opened on friday and Im really glad I was able to catch it!
Its basically a modern day Breakfast Club…and i just found out it was a winner at the Sundance Festival this year!
I totally related to the story and the characters; I could emphasize with their trials, tribulations, heart breaks, first loves, and anxiousness to leave highschool, but yet the fear of entering college.
I highly highly recommend this one guys!!
I even found the teens’ Facebook bios at: americanteenthemovie.com

Jayden - Thanks so much for the rec! I haven’t seen it yet, but will definitely keep an eye out for it.
Daniela - I don’t know what the title of that song is. Anyone know?
