Liam Neeson hits red carpet for Five Minutes of Heaven

August 12, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

It can’t be easy getting back into the public eye after losing someone. But actor Liam Neeson made his first public appearance since the death of his wife, Natasha Richardson. He hit the red carpet for the premiere of his new film, "Five Minutes of Heaven," in which he co-stars with James Nesbitt and Anamaria Marinca.
Directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, it tells the story of a meeting between former UVF (Ulster Volunteer Force, a loyalist paramilitary group in Northern Ireland) Alistair Little (Neeson) and Joe Griffen (Nesbitt). The meeting takes place 25 years after Little killed Griffen’s brother.

Channing Tatum, Sienna Miller at the G.I. Joe premiere

August 8, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Whenever I see the title “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra,” all I can think about is my brother’s G.I. Joe dolls from when I was a kid. Yes, they were dolls, and I can tell you, they were not very ferocious. I’m going to have to see the movie to get those doll images out of my head.
The movie tells the story of an elite military unit of special operatives known as G.I. Joe, who take on an evil organization led by a notorious arms dealer. Directed by Stephen Sommers, it stars Sienna Miller, Channing Tatum, Marlon Wayons, … [Read More]

Moon’s Duncan Jones at the Tribeca Film Festival

June 14, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

The film "Moon" is out in limited release this week, but has been on the film festival circuit since January. Just the title alone wouldn’t make me go see this movie, but after reading more about it and watching clips, I’m definitely interested. If I don’t see it beforehand, maybe it’ll play at the Traverse City Film Festival in August.
It’s directed and written by Duncan Jones, son of the legendary David Bowie, and follows an astronaut (Sam Rockwell) who pursues his own departure from a futuristic lunar mining base. "Moon" is rated R for language, and also stars Kevin … [Read More]

May 6, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

The premiere of "Star Trek" didn’t get a red carpet premiere; it got a black carpet premiere. ReelzChannel caught up with the stars on the black carpet, and I’m sure they’re all feeling like Chris Pine (Capt. Kirk), who says he feels like he’s in a "wind tunnel" with all the press they’ve been doing.
Hear what Pine, Leonard Nimoy, and others have to say about it below (could there be a sequel or two in the works?). "Star Trek" hits theaters this Friday, May 8, 2009, and catch all of Film Gecko’s coverage here.

Julia Roberts and Clive Owen are in theaters today in "Duplicity," a spy thriller that’s part romance, part action, and pure chemistry. I’ll check it out and report back with a review later on. Until then, check out the stars talking up the movie at the premiere. Julia Roberts looks fantastic, and I’m so happy to see her back on the big screen.
