Hilary Swank and Jeffrey Dean Morgan on the set of The Resident
July 1, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Actors Hilary Swank and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are currently filming "The Resident" in New York City, and I’ve got a couple of on-set images below.
The thriller follows a young doctor (Swank) who suspects she may not be alone in her new Brooklyn loft. She soon learns that her landlord is obsessed with her. Scheduled for a 2010 release, the movie is directed by Antti J. Jokinen and also stars Christopher Lee.
Hey, it’s nice to see Jeffrey Dean Morgan playing something besides a dead guy, and Swank is great with the dramatic roles. Should be a good pairing.
Stars gather for Farrah Fawcett’s funeral
July 1, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Even though her health issues have been in the news for months, it’s still hard to believe that Farrah Fawcett is gone. She’s always been "there," whether it was "Charlie’s Angels" in the early years or her later career in movies and TV.
Her friends and family, including partner Ryan O’Neal, their son Redmond, and her best friend Alana Stewart, are just a few of the mourners who attended Farrah’s funeral at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
Rob Pattinson: Watching myself on screen makes me feel sick!
July 1, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Much of the population might think that vampire Edward Cullen and his human alter-ego Robert Pattinson is cuter than cute. But he doesn’t share that feeling, and says that not only did he almost back out of auditioning for the role, but seeing himself on screen makes him sick!
For the rest of us, we’ll get to see Pattinson as the sultry vampire again on Nov. 20, 2009, when "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" hits theaters.

I’m giddy over the release of "Public Enemies" next Wednesday, July 1, 2009. Here are a few clips of the premiere, with Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Marion Cotillard and Leelee Sobieski talking tommy guns, cars and fedoras.
Thanks to MTV for the videos, and check out all of Film Gecko’s "Public Enemies" coverage!

Johnny Depp: Money can’t buy happiness, but it can buy a big yacht
June 25, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
There’s a great story on Johnny Depp in the July issue of Vanity Fair. Here’s an excerpt from writer Douglas Brinkley, who joined the 46-year-old star on his 156-foot yacht in the Caribbean:
"I am, as it happens, a guest on the private island of Johnny Depp. For reasons that surely once made sense, this 45-acre Bahamian dollop appears on maps as Little Hall’s Pond Cay. And this idyllic stretch of sand has been re-christened by the actor as Lily Rose Beach, after his 10-year-old daughter. We are surrounded by silver buttonwood, mangrove thickets, flowering plants, and a huge coconut tree about to drop its fruit. Tiki torches flicker in the shadows."
So begins the journey on which Depp talks about his John Dillinger film "Public Enemies" (in theaters July 1), his new film "The Rum Diaries," barracudas, friend Marlon Brando and much more.
"Money doesn’t buy you happiness," says Depp. "But it buys you a big enough yacht to sail right up to it." Read the full story here, and below, watch a video of Depp and Christian Bale (who plays Melvin Purvis) at the L.A. premiere of "Public Enemies."
RIP Farrah Fawcett: Awkward clip of her on "The Dating Game"
June 25, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Now that I’ve posted my favorite Michael Jackson video ("Thriller"), it’s time for a post about Farrah Fawcett, who died at the age of 62 today. I grew up with both of these icons, listening to Michael’s album "Thriller" and watching "Charlie’s Angels" with my mom and dad. Yes, even though it was about three hot babes, it was still a fun family show, along the lines of "Love Boat" and "Fantasy Island."
But lest we forget, Farrah also did a lot of movies during her career, including the critically acclaimed TV movie "The Burning Bed," about an abused wife who sets her husband’s bed on fire with him in it (which won a Golden Globe), and "Extremities," about a woman who takes revenge on the man who invades her home and tries to rape her (also nominated for a Golden Globe). It was a period of dark roles for the poster girl.
Other films included "The Apostle" with Robert Duvall, "Dr. T and the Women" with Richard Gere, and the very early (1976) "Logan’s Run" with Michael York. Did you know she was on "The Dating Game," though? Here’s the proof (and watch all the way through for an awkward surprise!):

Michael Jackson in Thriller
June 25, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Wow, it’s been a rough week in Hollywood, with the passing of Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and now Michael Jackson. While he was known more for his music than anything else (well, and his eccentricities), I think we can all agree that "Thriller" is a great music video that really qualifies as a movie short. Here’s the short version of the smash-hit video (thanks to MTV!).
Shia LaBeouf: “I’m an ordinary dude in extraordinary situations”
June 21, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
On the eve (almost) of the release of “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,? Paul Byrne of Movies.ie talked to Shia LaBeouf, who plays Sam Witwicky in the robot sequel.
LaBeouf talks about growing up poor, living in a car with his dad, being rebellious, and getting arrested “for stupid stuff.? Is it just me, or does he get a little defensive in this interview?
Betty White talks sluts on Chelsea Lately
June 20, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
I LOVE Betty White! I just saw “The Proposal? today, and that movie would have been just another romantic comedy without Betty. On Chelsea Lately this week, she talked sluts, boobs, and Golden Retrievers.
Jennifer Aniston and Bradley Cooper dating again!
June 19, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
I’ve seen Bradley Cooper in a number of projects, including “He’s Just Not That Into You,? but I really fell in love with him in “The Hangover.? It’s a smart, funny movie about guys on a bender in Vegas. It’s a lot smarter than it sounds!
Apparently, Jennifer Aniston is feeling the vibe, too, because CelebTV.com is reporting that they’re dating again. The two were spotted on a romantic dinner date at Il Cantinori in New York City. May I just say that these two would make beautiful babies? Thank you.
