ComingSoon.net posted a note tonight that Mark Strong has been cast in Sherlock Holmes, the upcoming remake starring Robert Downey, Jr. in the title role.
Apparently, the ComingSoon folks are at the Toronto Film Festival and had just finished speaking with Guy Ritchie about his upcoming crime-comedy RocknRolla, when he let it slip about […]

Judy Artunian on Cary Grant’s Address Book

Just the thought of peeking inside Cary Grant’s address book makes me giddy and light-headed. Writer Judy Artunian actually DID get to peek inside. Read on for her thoughts about this very cool experience. Judy writes:
Last month I caught the Cary Grant-Irene Dunn screwball comedy, The Awful Truth on TV. […]

Carla Gugino: "Watchmen" to Include Rape Scene

Carla Gugino recently talked about her role as Sally Jupiter in the upcoming Watchmen movie. It’s not pretty, she says of a “brutal rape scene,” in which the Comedian (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) attacks young Sally, who only manages to avoid getting raped by the timely intervention of fellow mask Hooded Justice.
“It was really […]

"Nightmare Before Christmas: Collector’s Edition" on DVD August 26

Is it just me, or is there a new “collector’s edition” of The Nightmare Before Christmas released every year? I’ve done no research to back this up, but it seems like I get word of a new one about this time every year.
No matter. It’s a great story with drop-dead animation and awesome […]

Tom Cruise sure is getting around these days, isn’t he? You can hardly go to a movie or read the entertainment news without seeing him. That’s him with Katie Holmes at the “Tropic Thunder” premiere this week.

J.J. Abrams: "I feel the earth…move…"

J.J. Abrams wants to make the earth move for us. Ok, maybe not literally, but he and David Seltzer are working on a disaster flick for Universal involving an earthquake.
What? It’s not a remake of the 1974 movie Earthquake? Nope, he says it’s not. Details are sketchy, but word is that it’ll be […]

Adrian Grenier’s "Teenage Paparazzi" Draws Stars

Let’s face it. It’s a really weird society we live in when famous actors and musicians are treated like, well, like rock stars. They’re just doing their job, but because we see them on TV and at the movies, it’s like they’re gods or something.

I’ve talked to enough of them to […]

"Fireflies in the Garden" Trailer: Low-Budget?

Julia Roberts, Ryan Reynolds, Willem Dafoe, Emily Watson, Hayden Panettiere, Carrie-Anne Moss…a star-studded cast graces the upcoming drama, Fireflies in the Garden. It’s a semi-autobiographical story about a family torn apart by an unexpected tragedy. Sounds dramatic. And depressing. It’s not getting great reviews either. Here’s one from Variety.
I dunno…see what you think […]

SAG Talks Continue

Members of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) met at the Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City today. Leaders had one message for them: we’re still negotiating.
Hmmm, what’s it all mean? I just hope they can work things out before it comes down to another situation like the writer’s strike last winter. I think […]
