Chronicles of Narnia: Second Trailer Released
After just watching the second official trailer for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, it’s taken me a moment to calm down enough to type this out. Regardless of the squabblings over the religious nature of C.S. Lewis’ books, and the conservative gold stars sticking all over the cover of this Disney release, this film is going to be huge. I’m talking Harry Potter huge. Lord of the Rings huge. Everything in the movie is of a grand scale or go home mentality. It really gave me the delighted shivers.
The setting has a distinct fantasy gleam to it, and the CGI looks amazingly life-like, with the real and generated elements coming together is seamless fashion to create the world of Narnia. In particular the rendering of the great lion Aslan was starlingly impressive, and the battle scenes looked truly amazing. Tilda Swinton, who is skyrocketing up my list of respected actresses, plays the White Witch and does so with a chill and regal demeanor beyond what I could have expected. Director Andrew Adamson is sitting on a gold mine.
One great thing I see coming out of this, is a renaissance for the written works. Unlike Potter, whose book popularity screamed at Hollywood for adaptation, The Chronicles of Narnia have been out for ages, enjoyed continued though not sensational success, and will likely benefit from the movies release. That’s not to say that the books aren’t good enough to garner their own attention - they’re quite fabulous - but the massive exposure of a sweeping Hollywood treatment would do any book a world of good.

I can already tell this will be one of my favorite movies of all time. I remember watching the cartoons as a little kid.

I don’t remember the cartoons, but I used to watch the mini-series on YTV. Let’s just say this looks a might bit better.
