Generation X author Douglas Coupland, who described and gave identity to an entire generation of displaced, confused young people, is bringing his writing talents to the big screen for Everythings’ Gone Green. Hardly a departure from his previous work, Coupland has penned the tale of Ryan, a discontented twenty-something in a dead end job, who is offered the chance to better his financial situation and popularity through a money laundering scheme.
Paul Fox, the film’s director, describes it as “very dialogue driven, very funny. It’s been interesting to watch it develop because it doesn’t have as strong a narrative engine as your standard movie does. He’s definitely not really a plot guy.”
Can Coupland’s genius and Fox’s acclaimed skills behind the camera carve a success out of this plot-light script? We should find out sometime in 2006.
