Curious George Hits the Big Screen

Everyone’s favourite primate is due to hits theaters in February of 2006. Curious Georgethe movie, based on the books by H.A. Rey, chronicles the sometimes funny, sometimes frustrating life of the Man in the Yellow Hat as he raises his overly mischievious pet monkey George.
Voice talent lined up for Curious George includes Will Ferrell as the Man in the Yellow Hat, Drew Barrymore in a role yet to be announced (monkey love?), David Cross, Eugene Levy, Joan Plowright and Dick Van Dyke. From the trailer, it appears that I will be able to stomach Ferrell, who usually makes me nauseous to watch, and the animation style has resisted the urge to deviate overly much from the original Curious George drawings. He’s still as button cute as ever, and from the looks of things, full of hillarious trouble. I’m looking forward to this one.
As Erik Davis at Cinematical points out, thank your lucky stars to be saved from a CGI/live action hybrid disaster (Scooby-doobie-doo…I mean yoo). The only thing I’m waiting for with finger-crossed is a new Thundercats or He-Man movie, that would make my year.
