Depp to Replace Ledger in "Imaginarium"?
This Just In: Word on the street is that Johnny Depp might be replacing Heath Ledger in the fallen star’s latest film role.
According to Monsters & Critics, director Terry Gilliam is keen for Depp to shoot the remaining scenes of “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.” Ledger, who died earlier this week, was just weeks away from wrapping the role.
A source said: “There is a point in the film when Heath falls through a magic mirror. He could change into another character after that, and that is where Johnny would come in.”
“It’s a weird, fantasy, time-travel movie so Heath’s character could easily change appearance,” adds the source. “It would be a poignant moment. Johnny’s not working at the moment, so everyone is praying he will do it.”
Well, you’ve got to wonder about these blog rumors. Still, Depp would be a great replacement, and it’s just the kind of quirky movie he goes for.
Ledger, known in the industry to be a perfectionist, reportedly had a blow-out with producers on the London set of the movie after they refused to re-shoot a scene.
