DiCaprio to Star in "Atari"…and a gazillion other films
That Leonardo DiCaprio is one busy guy. He has 25 film projects lined up over the next few years, where he’s either starring or producing or both.
Now he’s signed on to star in a movie about Atari. Remember them? The godfather of the video game industry? This movie is about the guy who started it all, Nolan Bushnell. DiCaprio’s Appian Way banner is producing.

Bushnell was an engineering student, puzzle-lover and game enthusiast who started out fixing broken pinball machines and went on to launch Atari Corp., a video game manufacturer, in the early ’70s. Its first product was a little game called Pong that mesmerized kids in rec rooms across the country and led to millions of dollars worth of video game sales. Within a few years, Bushnell sold the company to Warner Communications for $28 million. Yes, $28 million!
During the next three decades, Bushnell started other tech ventures and also created Chuck E. Cheese’s Pizza Time Theaters.
It won’t be the first time Dicaprio has embodied a real-life person. Over the years, he’s embodied author Tobias Wolff (This Boy’s Life), poets Jim Carroll (The Basketball Diaries) and Arthur Rimbaud (Total Eclipse), master counterfeiter Frank Abagnale Jr. (Catch Me If You Can) and aviator Howard Hughes (The Aviator).
He’s also attached to two films in development — about Wall Street felon Jordan Belfort and James Bond creator Ian Fleming. When does he sleep, though? That’s my question.
