DVD Giveaway: "Gumby: The Movie"

by User ImageJane Boursaw on April 21st, 2008

Gumby: The Movie hits store shelves April 22, 2008. Released in theaters on Dec. 1, 1995, it’s based on the 1950’s claymation cartoon series, starring the malleable Gumby, Pokey the pony, Lowbelly the dog, and Gumby’s bandmates, the Clayboys.

When the band organizes a concert benefiting local farmers, Gumby’s archenemies, the Blockheads, plot to kidnap the townsfolk and replace them with robots!

Though the pace of this movie is probably too slow for most kids, it’s colorful, has a good message about helping others, and will probably keep little ones entertained. Also, a few scenes might be scary for youngsters: Lowbelly is dognapped by the Blockheads; Gumby is sliced into pieces (but puts himself back together), and the farm wives fall over in disbelief after getting their foreclosure notices out of the mailbox.

More after the jump, including the giveaway and movie trailer…

Written, directed and produced by Art and Gloria Clokey (who also voiced many of the parts), this movie is Rated G (the “Gumbified Director’s Cut”). Extras include deleted scenes and bonus episodes, and the DVD also comes with a fun little Gumby action figure.
