Freddie Highmore to Voice "Astro Boy"
Are there no other young male actors in Hollywood? Because it seems like Freddie Highmore gets picked for everything. Not that that’s a bad thing. He’s a great actor. Just, you know, spread the love around a little.
Now he’s set to voice the role of Astro Boy, a CG-animated movie directed by David Bowers, scheduled for a 2009 release. It’s based on a Japanese animated series about a scientist who creates a robotic replication of his deceased son. Of course, there are villains, and Astro has to figure out how to adapt to human life.
“It’s terrific that Freddie has agreed to play Astro,” says Bowers. “He’s a remarkably skilled young actor, whose freshness and vitality make him perfect for the role. Astro Boy is a beloved superhero and has captured hearts around the globe for more than 50 years. I can’t wait to see where Freddie takes him.”
Me either!
