Gallo Joins Bardem in "Tetro"

by Jane Boursaw on March 9th, 2008

Vincent Gallo, perhaps best known for his role as actor-director in “The Brown Bunny,” will join Javier Bardem in Francis Ford Coppola’s family drama “Tetro” for American Zoetrope.

Gallo will play the title character in this family drama about rivalries and betrayal, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Newcomer Alden Ehrenreich plays the younger brother who searches for him in Buenos Aires. Bardem plays an Argentinean literary critic, and Maribel Verdu plays Tetro’s longtime love interest.

Gallo is also known for his on-set battles while directing Buffalo ‘66, his provocative offscreen comments, and a sexually explicit Bunny scene with girlfriend Chloe Sevigny. Can’t wait to see he and Bardem — both quirky characters onscreen and off — face off on the screen together.

Principal photography is set to begin March 31 in Buenos Aires. The 15 million project is scheduled for a 2009 release.
