Film Gecko

Gary’s Trailer Park

by Administrator on November 16th, 2005

Erin and I both like to procrastinate about writing our posts by watching as many trailers for upcoming movies that we can, so I figured why not parlay that into something a little more constructive and make an actual post out of new trailers that are out, and trailers that I see promise in. Welcome to my trailer park.

Today it looks like we’ve got Friends all over the movie scene, with Jennifer Aniston crashing in Derailed, and David Schwimmer staring as Duane Hopgood, a divorcee at the end of his rope. Check out the trailer of this Official Sundance Selection for 2005.

Exclusive to Yahoo! is footie fiction Goal! about a por kid from South America chasing his dream to play for Newcastle United in the English Premiereship. We love our football here at Film Gecko, though we’re left to wonder how much effort at authenticity was put into this North American production. It has the potential to do quite well in Canada, with football being the fastest growing youth sport in the country.

I have no idea how Ben Kingsley got sucked in to a roll in Uwe Boll’s video game adaptation Bloodrayne. It doesn’t look any better than Boll’s last effort, Alone in the Dark.

A quirky opener this weekend is Breakfast on Pluto, where a young Irishman seeks his Mammy in London, becomes a transvestite, and experiences things he never dreamed of. Watch for Liam Neeson as the boy’s surrogate dad/parish priest.

The trailer for Steven Spielberg’s Oscar hopeful Munich is also now available for viewing. It has every inkling of a powerhouse, and will do very well with critics and cinema goers alike.

This just in: Terry Gillam’s Tideland, where junkies and childhood imaginations meet, now has its trailer available for viewing here (click access map, then trailer) (_).
