"Journey to the Center of the Earth": Preview & Trailer
July 10, 2008 by Jane Boursaw
This movie sort of snuck in under the radar, but the trailer looks great. It’s a remake of the classic Jules Verne story, opening in theaters tomorrow, July 11, 2008.
Directed by Eric Brevig, it follows the adventures of a geology professor, Trevor (Brendan Fraser), on a quest to learn what happened to his missing brother, Max, while researching volcanic tubes years earlier. When Trevor gets a visit from Max’s son, Sean (Josh Hutcherson), the two embark on an expedition to continue Max’s research. Along the way, they meet up with an old scientist’s daughter in Iceland (Anita Briem).
The three begin a trek up a mountain to find a geologic sensor, but a few wrong steps take them deep into the earth’s core, where they find all sorts of unimaginable creatures. It’s in 3-D, so I expect that even if they mess up the storyline, the special effects should be fun.
