Movie Trailer: Stop-Loss
I came across this trailer for Ryan Phillippe’s new movie, "Stop-Loss" and it looks pretty good. IMDb offers the following plot outline: "Back home in Texas after fighting in Iraq, a soldier refuses to return to battle despite the government mandate requiring him to do so."
The film stars Ryan Phillippe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Rob Brown, Channing Tatum and Abbie Cornish. At the very least, there’s plenty of eye candy for viewers to look at.
With everything that has been happening in the world in the past few years, this movie is likely to cause some emotional reactions among audiences. It currently has a release date of March 28, 2008.
By the way, wasn’t this the movie that started all of the Ryan/Abbie rumors and led his wife, Reese Witherspoon, to leave him? I guess he couldn’t "stop the loss" of his marriage (lame, but it’s Friday so just go with it…).

There are an awful lot of war-related movies coming out suddenly. Why the rush right now? This one looks interesting, but I’m sure it will lead to all sorts of arguments and controversy.

Thanks for posting the images and clip, Jeanne! I’d heard something about this film…looks like it will be pretty good. Nice cast, too…
And, I hear you Liz…nothing wrong with a little healthy discussion, though!? If this film helps to open-up a national dialogue on the issue, that’ll be a good thing!

Is this based on a true story or is it a fictionalized dramatization of the stop loss issue? I had a nephew KIA Iraq and have a neice also in the military, so I think it is a good thing to have a movie openly dealing with these issues. I hope someone with post a spoiler once the movie is out, since it will likely be a while until I have the time to see it.
