This week we get to see the movie that made Tom Cruise go crazy! Well maybe not, he’d been on a bit of a slippery slope for a while, but War of the Worlds was around about the time that the first cracks in the public facade began to gape, causing a rift with Steven Spielberg, and spawning rumours that ubiqui-child Dakota Fanning is actually an alien. Okay, so I made the last one up. Point is that if you want to watch Mr. Cruise kick some alien tail, you can now rent or own.

On an equally depressing scale is Prozac Nation, based on Elizabeth Wurtzel’s memoir of the same name. Watch Christina Ricci play the upteenth darkly troubled young woman of her career, as she traverses freshman year at Harvard under the cloud of depression and the interference of mommy dearest (Jessica Lange).

And I had really nice descriptions of The Polar Express, My Date With Drew, The Honeymooners, and the Edukators, but then my cat miraculously learned how to click the mouse buttons with her ass, and PFFFFFHPPP! There went the last half of my post. So just know that they’re also out on DVD now. My cat apologizes for any inconvenience.

EDIT: Oh look, I found part of the cached page…

The sweeter side of celebrity obsession has made an appearance in the documentary My Date With Drew. Aspiring (read here: poor) film maker Brian Herzlinger decides to fulfill his childhood dream 20 years late, by asking Drew Barrymore out on a date. He and his film buds document his quest, but they’ll have to navigate the tricky world of Hollywood to be successful.

Just in time for Christmas we have the arrival of The Polar Express. All aboard for the little one’s as conductor Tom Hanks takes them on a whirlwind journey to the North Pole to see Santa. This was the animated children’s film for the holidays last year, and can now be added to your embarrassingly large collection of animated Christmas movies.
