Patrick Swayze Diagnosed With Cancer
I don’t know about you, but I’m almost afraid to read any entertainment news these days.
This week, it was announced that Patrick Swayze is battling pancreatic cancer, although, thankfully, a doctor for the actor says that reports of his ill health have been greatly exaggerated.
“Patrick has a very limited amount of disease, and he appears to be responding well to treatment,” said Dr. George Fisher in a statement.
This makes me so sad, but I know if anyone can beat it, he can. He seems like an incredibly strong person with a good support system, including wife Lisa Niemi.
More after the jump…
Swayze, 55, was diagnosed with cancer more than a month ago, after undergoing gastrointestinal surgery at Stanford University, his publicist Annett Wolf said. Since that time, he’s been receiving outpatient chemotherapy at the Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto, California.
Some reports indicated that Swayze had received three doses of chemo, which shrank the tumor but not as much as doctors had hoped, and that the cancer had spread to other organs. Not true, said Wolf. “It has not spread,” she told the New York Daily News. “We’re optimistic. We hope he has years left.”
She said the actor is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes an A&E pilot entitled “The Beast,” in which he plays an FBI agent.
