Ray Liotta to ‘Revolt’

by Jane Boursaw on May 21st, 2008

The idea of Ray Liotta in a revolt doesn’t sound all that new. The actor’s had a slew of bad-boy roles over the years, including his knock-out performance as Henry Hill in 1990’s Goodfellas, directed by Martin Scorsese.

Now Liotta’s signed on for the Dimension Films comedy, Youth in Revolt. Adapted from the novels by C.D. Payne and directed by Miguel Arteta, the movie follows Nick Twisp (Michael Cera), a smart, sexually obsessed teen living in a world of moronic adults.

More after the jump…

Liotta will play a cop having an affair with Twisp’s mom (Jean Smart). When that relationship goes sour, the cop gets his twisted revenge on the mom by going after Nick, who stands accused of arson.

Liotta is currently shooting the comedy Observe and Report with Seth Rogen for Warner Bros., and will shoot ‘Youth’ in July, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Of his turn to comedic roles in recent years (including voicing a part in Bee Movie), Liotta says, “It’s not really a conscious choice. I’m doing them because they’re interesting stories and they allow me to show a side that I haven’t been able to show in a lot of other movies.”
