Shia LaBeouf, Tyrese Gibson unveil new Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen trailer

Shia LaBeouf makes no bones about “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” being a fun action-flick. He, Michael Bay and Tyrese Gibson unveiled the movie’s new trailer at a special IMAX screening in L.A.

"The movie is not overtly complicated,” LaBeouf says. “It wasn’t built for extreme pontification or self exploration. It’s built for fun and enjoyment and escapism. It’s the only movie that I’ve ever been a part of where you can drive down the street and literally see decals of your movies on other cars."

After the jump, watch the trailer and clip of the stars…

Kate Mara, Clark Gregg join Iron Man 2

Casting for "Iron Man 2" continues, with Kate Mara and Clark Gregg being the most recent actors to join the sequel. It’s directed by Jon Favreau, who also helmed the first movie.

I’ve been a big fan of Mara’s for a while, and especially loved her role in "Shooter," opposite Mark Wahlberg. Her character in "Iron Man 2" is being kept under wraps for now (anyone heard anything?). Scarlett Johansson is playing Black Widow, and Gwyneth Paltrow is returning as Pepper Pots.

Gregg is reprising his role as Agent Phil Coulson of S.H.I.E.L.D. I’m guessing he might play a major role in "The Avengers," as well. That movie is coming up in 2012.

"Iron Man 2" is scheduled for release on May 7, 2010, and it can’t get here fast enough for me. I need more of Robert Downey, Jr. as the dashing Tony Stark, and it’ll be a blast seeing Mickey Rourke as Ivan/Whiplash. I’m sure those two have plenty to talk about on set, since both have battled demons and had major comebacks in recent years.

Channing Tatum: “I was dying to play Gambit”

It’s a high-class problem when you’ve got so many movies going that you can’t fit another one into the schedule.

Such was the case for Channing Tatum, who says he’s seriously bummed that he didn’t get to play Gambit in the upcoming “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” due to scheduling conflicts. Instead, the part went to Taylor Kitsch, whom I’m sure will do a fantastic job in the role.

Tatum will be in theaters this summer in “Fighting,” “Public Enemies,” and “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.” But the comic-book fan says Gambit has always been near and dear to his heart.

“Man, I was dying to play [Gambit],” Tatum told MTV News. “My dad’s from Louisiana, and I think I’ve always just gravitated towards Gambit, in general. He’s just cooler than anything to me.”

Taye Diggs turns vampire for Dead of Night?

Hollywood seems to be embracing its comic book side these days. Along with mainstream characters like Batman, Iron Man and such, some lesser known comic book characters are coming out of the woodwork, like Peter Jackson/Steven Spielberg’s "Tintin," which is moving steadily forward.

The latest comic book/movie news is "Dead of Night," based on the Italian "Dylan Dog" comic book series which began in the 1980s. The story deals with all sorts of otherworldly creatures, and Taye Diggs is in talks to play the main villain, a vampire. You can catch Diggs currently in ABC’s "Private Practice."

Shocktilyoudrop reports that Diggs will be joining the cast opposite Brandon Routh ("Superman Returns") playing Dylan Dog, with Sam Huntington as his sidekick.

Kevin Munroe, perhaps best known for directing 2007’s "TMNT," will be helming the project.

Are you excited to see these smaller comic book characters come to the big screen? What others would you like to see? Share your thoughts below!

Warren Beatty sued over Dick Tracy…what?

I saw the headline that Warren Beatty was being sued over "Dick Tracy" and thought, what the…? That movie was eons ago, and it’s still causing legal issues? Well, yeah, and it has been since 2006.

Here’s the scoop: Tribune Media Services has filed a lawsuit against Beatty to recover motion picture and television rights to the comic-strip character of Dick Tracy.

Tribune says Beatty wrongly claims to have exclusive motion picture and TV rights to the character. Beatty bought the rights in 1985 and went on to direct and act in the 1990 film by the same name.

All this is making me want to watch the movie again, which won three Oscars and included a star-studded cast of Dustin Hoffman, Madonna and Al Pacino. But I digress…

Chris Pine to play Green Lantern?

After playing Capt. Kirk in the upcoming "Star Trek," I imagine Chris Pine could pretty much have his pick of roles. And it looks like he might be playing yet another hero – Hal Jordan/Green Lantern, a DC Comics superhero.

According to a story on IESB yesterday, it was just a rumor. However, Latino Review says it’s the real deal.

I think he’d make a great Green Lantern. The character was created by John Broome and Gil Kane, and first appeared in Showcase #22 (Oct. 1959).

The movie is scheduled to begin filming in Australia this September. Any thoughts?

Sexy Megan Fox lines up Jonah Hex, Fathom

Megan Fox will wow moviegoers in June with "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," but she’s in no way resting on her laurels. The sexy actress is already lining up two projects.

Fox is in final negotiations to star in DC Comics’ "Jonah Hex." If all goes well, she’ll play Leila, a gun-toting romantic interest for Hex (Josh Brolin), a bounty hunter being tracked by voodoo-guy Turnbull, played by John Malkovich. He wants to raise an army of the undead.

Fox is also attached to star and develop "Fathom," another comic-based movie, this one with an underwater slant. The story follows a girl named Aspen who discovers she’s an aquatic humanoid who can control water.

And to think Megan Fox began her acting career on the TV show "Hope and Faith"! Things really started to take off after "Transformers" and her sexy cover photo for GQ last year. I think it set a record for magazine sales.

Are you a Megan Fox fan? I can’t wait for "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," but mainly because I have a thing for Shia LaBeouf.

Jackie Earle Haley and Jeffrey Dean Morgan talk "Watchmen" – VIDEO

“Watchmen” hits movie theaters this Friday, March 6, 2009, and it’s causing a pretty big buzz with fans of the graphic novel series. I haven’t even read the graphic novels, but the trailers I’ve seen look pretty awesome.

The story begins with a vigilante who begins investigating the murder of an ex-superhero, and things spiral from there. It’s rated R for strong graphic violence, sexuality, nudity and language, so definitely not for little ones.

See what stars Jackie Earle Haley and Jeffrey Dean Morgan had to say about it:

Will Samuel L. Jackson get bored playing Nick Fury?

Geez, is Samuel L. Jackson the man or what? He’ll never have to network or market himself again, because he just signed a nine-picture deal to play Nick Fury, an agent of Marvel’s spy organization S.H.I.E.L.D.

The films include "Iron Man 2," "Thor," "Captain America," and "The Avengers." Plus, he also might head up his own movie, which is still in development.

If you stuck through to the end of "Iron Man," you saw Jackson’s "Fury" make a surprise appearance, which tipped off moviegoers that more Marvel movies were in the works.

That’s a LOT of movies playing the same character! I wonder if he’ll get bored playing Nick Fury for years on end. And will he have time for other movies in between? Let’s hope so, because I like Samuel L. Jackson and would like to see him in some other films besides Marvel.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen – New Trailer

Looks like more awesome special effects are in store for us with “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.” With a June 24, 2009 release date, the high-action flick is set to be a summer blockbuster for DreamWorks.

Picking up where the first “Transformers” movie left off, the evil Decepticons return to Earth to take Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) prisoner. He’s learned the truth about the origins of the ginormous robots. But don’t forget that in Sam’s corner is Optimus Prime, who joins forces with armies on Earth to battle the Decepticons.

Directed by Michael Bay, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” also stars Megan Fox, Rainn Wilson, Josh Duhamel, John Turturro, and Tyrese Gibson. No rating yet, but I’m sure it will be PG-13. Check out the trailer:
