One of the best skits from the 2009 Oscars was Ben Stiller doing Joaquin Phoenix alongside Natalie Portman. Now here’s a guy who knows how to do humor. It’s to the point. It’s not over the top. It says a lot with very few words. And it’s just plain funny! I love Ben Stiller. Here’s the clip of Joaquin Phoenix on David Letterman.

There’s a story on The Hollywood Reporter’s Risky Biz Blog, asking whether we need Joaquin Phoenix to rise again. It got me thinking about what the film industry would be missing if he never acted again. In my view, a lot.

I would be completely remiss if I didn’t post this bizarre video of Joaquin Phoenix on “The Late Show with David Letterman” the other night. What do you think? Was he pulling a publicity stunt, or was he just totally drugged and/or out of it? And is this really the kind of publicity you want? Really?! Go back to acting, Joaquin! You were a great actor!
