Planet 51 Preview & Trailer
July 2, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Remember that episode of "The Twilight Zone," where the couple gets off a train and ends up in a town devoid of human life and everything seems fake and it turns out they’re on an alien planet and are now the playthings of a little girl? "Planet 51" is sort of like that.
Ok, that might be stretching it a bit, but an astronaut plants a flag on a planet that turns out to be filled with aliens mowing their lawns and barbecuing in their backyards. It’s a mind-twister because the humans are the aliens, and the astronaut is the …read more
Alison Lohman in Drag Me to Hell – Are loan officers considered the grim reaper?
May 27, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Just the name “Drag Me to Hell” sounds like a cheesy 1950s movie, but the trailer and previews look downright creepy. It’s directed by Sam Raimi and stars Alison Lohman as a loan officer who, well, gets dragged to hell after nixing a loan and evicting an old woman from her home.
Hmmm, a sign of the times? I dunno, are loan officers seen as the grim reaper these days? The movie’s rated PG-13 for sequences of horror violence, terror, disturbing images and language, and opens in theaters May 29, 2009.

May 9, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
If you haven’t seen "Galaxy Quest" yet, you need to get to a DVD store this week, because it’s returning in a 10-year anniversary Deluxe Edition on Tuesday.
It’s a ridiculously funny sci-fi spoof on "Star Trek," and what’s even funnier is that you don’t expect to see Sigourney Weaver in this type of film, but she rocks it. The story follows the stars of a sci-fi TV show who are heading for a convention, and suddenly tasked with saving an alien race who think they’re the real deal.
ETOnline caught up with stars Weaver and Tim Allen, who talked …read more
Drag Me to Hell – Trailer and TV Spots
May 6, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Director Sam Raimi brings the terror with "Drag Me to Hell," a horror flick about a girl’s quest to break an evil curse.
Alison Lohman plays Christine Brown, an L.A. loan officer with a very nice boyfriend, Professor Clay Dalton (Justin Long). Life couldn’t be better, which is a dead giveaway that something horrible is about to happen.
When Mrs. Ganush (Lorna Raver) comes to the bank looking for an extension on her home loan (ripped from the headlines!), Christine denies the request, which is a really bad thing to do. The woman ends up placing a curse on Christine, turning …read more

Alvin!!! Chipmunks Sequel Gets a Director!!!
December 10, 2008 by Jane Boursaw
I’m probably overly excited about “The Chipmunks” sequel - or as it’s known officially, “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel” - but we really loved the first movie. It’s just fun and goofy, and sometimes you need that.
Now it has a director: Betty Thomas. I still think of her as Officer Lucy Bates on “Hill Street Blues” - I guess old habits die hard. But she’s directed and produced a lot of movies since then, including “John Tucker Must Die” and “Surviving Christmas.” Though I’m not sure those movies are something I’d want on my credits list, …read more
