Opening in theaters on July 24, 2009 is "The Ugly Truth," an adorable romantic comedy starring Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler. It’s about a chauvinistic reporter who gets involved with a romantically challenged morning show producer.
Robert Luketic is the director; he’s also directed "21," "Monster-in-Law," "Legally Blonde," and "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton." So he’s definitely got the romantic comedy chops to produce a great movie.

New TV Spot for The Ugly Truth
July 2, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Whenever I think of Gerard Butler, I automatically think of him being all intense and toga-ish as King Leonidas in "300," but he can hold his own in a romantic movie, as evidenced in "P.S. I Love You" and "Nim’s Island."
He’s the perfect foil for Katherine Heigl in “The Ugly Truth,” a romantic comedy about a chauvinistic reporter who gets involved with a romantically challenged morning show producer.
Directed by Robert Luketic, the movie is rated R for sexual content and language, and hits theaters July 24, 2009. Check out the trailers here and here, and watch the latest TV spot below.
The Ugly Truth – Trailer & Preview

Adorable Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler star in “The Ugly Truth,” a romantic comedy about a chauvinistic reporter who gets involved with a romantically challenged morning show producer. I like both of these actors, so I’m hoping they make some sparks onscreen (even though I can’t help but think of him as King Leonidas in the very non-romantic 300).
Directed by Robert Luketic, the movie snagged an R rating for sexual content and language, and hits theaters July 24, 2009. Check out the trailer and see what you think…

Katherine Heigl signs for “Five Killers”
February 19, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Katherine Heigl has wasted no time moving on with her movie career after deciding to leave ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy.” The blonde-haired, blue-eyed cutie (yes, I’m calling her a cutie) has signed to star opposite Ashton Kutcher in Lionsgate’s thriller "Five Killers."
Heigl will play a woman who meets the man of her dreams while on vacation. But everything goes haywire when the couple learn that their neighbors might be assassins hired to kill them.
Hmmm … should be interesting seeing these two in a scary movie. They both seem like the romantic-comedy type. But I guess maybe Heigl is trying to get away from the rom-coms she’s been doing in recent years (even though she’s perfect for them).
Robert Luketic, who helmed Heigl’s upcoming romantic comedy “The Ugly Truth,” will direct the movie, which is scheduled to begin production next month in Atlanta and the south of France (rough!).

“The Ugly Truth” Trailer
November 28, 2008 by Jane Boursaw
I’m such a sucker for romantic comedies, and the good ones can be so fun and uplifting. Plus, I really like Katherine Heigl, and we’ll see how much chemistry she has with Gerard Butler in “The Ugly Truth.”
Heigl stars as a romantically challenged morning show producer who’s reluctantly embroiled in a series of outrageous tests by her chauvinistic correspondent (Butler). I keep thinking this is a remake of an old classic movie. Where’s my classic movie buffs out there?
See what you think of the trailer. Looks fun, doesn’t it?
