Somewhere out there today is a person getting fired. Maybe not just one person actually, but an entire team. If mega-corporation Wal-Mart didn’t have enough detractors already, they’re doing an excellent job of adding to those numbers with a racial gaffe of epic proportions.

It’s new system that recommends movies to customers based on what they previously ordered hit a bit of a snag recently when it was discovered that the monkey movie Planet of the Apes, was mapped to link to films about African Americans like civil rights leader Martin Luther King. Whoops.

Wal-Mart spokepeople assure everyone that they’re equally as horrified and have no idea how the software program that makes the recommendations could have allowed for such a thing to happen.
