Warner Bros. has acquired rights to the book “Drink, Play, F@#k,” the male retort to the female-centric best-seller “Eat, Pray, Love” by Elizabeth Gilbert.
“Drink,” by writer Andrew Gottlieb, tells the fictional story of Bob Sullivan, a man who, seeking solace after his wife leaves him, goes on a bender in Ireland, takes a gambling jaunt to Las Vegas, and embarks on a sex-tourism trip to Thailand. Grove Press is scheduled to publish the book in early 2009.

Gilbert’s memoir, “Eat, Pray, Love,” centers on her quest to find solace after a painful divorce. I’m on the last chapter, and must admit that I was turned off by the naval-gazing at the beginning of the book, but it’s gotten better towards the end.
A film adaptation is being developed by Plan B, with Julia Roberts attached to star. I just hope the film isn’t too naval-gaze-ish.
